Goodness gracious, where to start?! First of all, thank you for being here and taking the time to read this! It means so much to me!
If you’ve followed me for a while on Instagram or Facebook, you know that for several years I’ve been juggling both a full-time job in addition to Dear Kathryn. Along the way, I’ve grown as a designer/calligrapher/artist, and I’ve grown my invitation business slowly, but surely. I’m thankful to have had some awesome clients over the past few years, and look forward to many more to come! I’m grateful for being able to learn tons of different things from some amazing people (Design by Laney, Carley Zuercher, Kristen Henderson Calligraphy, Design House Prep School, Cami Monet, Simply Jessica Marie, to name a few!). It’s from watching these lovely ladies build their businesses that I learned just how much the wedding invitation industry means to me and how much I want to make a career of it.
I’ve had three full-time jobs since I graduated from UNC Wilmington in 2011. I loved my first one in the beginning, strongly disliked my second one, and semi-liked my most recent position. Most recently, I was doing marketing and admin for a real estate company in Charlotte, but it wasn’t what I really love to do. I was getting burnt out on typing handwritten letters, managing a large property database that was constantly changing, and was designing flyers with a template that I didn’t love 100%. But I kept pushing forward so that I could plan to build some stability for when I could finally make the switch to the wedding invitation industry full time. I loved the people I was working with, so I stuck with it. Why not, right?
But, on June 4th when the principals of the real estate company told me that they were doing some reorganizing in the company and no longer needed my services (effective immediately), I was not only shocked, anxious, and scared, but I was excited. Once that initial panic wore off and I cleaned out what had been my office for the past four years, the word that came into my mind was freedom. I was free to really focus on my business and free to spend the time creating things I’m truly passionate about – wedding invitations! I may not have all the money saved up that I initially wanted to have before making the leap, but I think that’s one thing that’s really pushing me to be successful. I now have to make it work and I want it more than ever! Y’all, I’ve been waiting years to do this…and now I can finally say that Dear Kathryn is my full-time gig!
I’m giving away 10% off your invoice for invitation design packages! that’s huge!
SO, along with some fun things that will be coming soon to Dear Kathryn (think semi-custom!), I want to do something for one, maybe even two, lucky couples.
Not just 10% off the design fee: off the printing, design fee, and whatever is included in that package. Basically, 10% off the whole darn thing. That means if your invoice total is $2,000.00, you’ll receive $200.00 off. If your invoice total is $5,000.00, you will receive a whopping $500.00 off. Are ya picking up what I’m putting down here?! That’s huge. That leaves the door open for adding things like calligraphy, maps, and day-of stationery, if you wanted to!
Go to the Rafflecopter giveaway box below and complete each of the tasks. It’s that simple!

A little note for those who may be in the same position I was: If you have the opportunity to do something you love, I highly recommend making the change.
