By signing an agreement with Dear Kathryn, Dear Kathryn agrees to set aside the allotted time for your project. Because of this, should you need to cancel your order (custom invitation suites only), you forfeit the 50% retainer initially paid, as well as any costs Dear Kathryn has incurred for your project. Please contact me immediately should you need to cancel.
Due to their custom nature, products and services on this website are not eligible for return.
With handwritten work, it is common for there to be variances in the spacing, size, and style of letters. No two handwritten pieces can be identical.
With envelope addressing, each address on a list varies in length and spacing. Therefore, no two envelopes will look exactly alike. Again, returns will not be accepted.
The post office reads envelopes electronically. Due to the nature of calligraphy, some addresses or calligraphy styles will be more or less difficult to read when put through the USPS, as is the nature with any handwritten address. Any address that cannot be read by machine will likely be hand inspected. If the address still cannot be delivered, it will be returned to the return address. Dear Kathryn is not responsible for resending or reimbursing for invitations or envelopes that do not make it to their destination. As with any mass mailing, you're likely to have 1-3% of your pieces be undelivered. Please check your address list carefully to ensure all of your addresses are correct and to minimize this effect.
In addition, the USPS (and other mail delivery services) sometimes delivers envelopes with tears, smudges, and/or marks. Once your items leave my studio, Dear Kathryn is not responsible for these tears, smudges, and/or marks appearing on delivered items.
If Dear Kathryn is addressing and sending out your pieces for you, Dear Kathryn guarantees that each address you provide me goes into the mail. Any mail not received by its intended recipient is not under the liability of Dear Kathryn. If any pieces need to be remailed, you may either mail the piece yourself from the excess given back to you upon the completion of the project, or pay Dear Kathryn to address and remail the additional pieces at the cost of the calligraphed envelope(s) and a $35 fee.
